Problem/Prompt: Create a logo for a peer-led study group; incorporate “DC” (location) + “Chaburah” (Hebrew for “study group”)
Process:
Research: considered abstract ideas associated with the meaning behind “DC” / “Chaburah” / “DChaburah,” explored existing mockups for convention vs. invention;
Generate: thought of concrete images associated with the core ideas, such books, desks, faces, dialogue (ie talking);
Experiment: tested fonts, incorporated crucial text elements as abstract representations of theme
Study 1: the letters “D” and “C” placed over an open book can also be read as two profiles facing each other with hands meeting in the center
Study 2: the letters “D” and “C” overlaid on top of each other can be read as an aerial view of a figure sitting at a desk
Refine: embraced minimalist style, simplified / removed unnecessary noise (color and shapes that didn’t directly support the idea), confirmed minor details, integrated into official material
