Paper umbrella modeled from weather-related data
Problem/Prompt: Collect data, write Processing code, produce a visualization of the data, and then print and construct a wearable data portrait from paper (more details)
Process: Recorded temperature differences between Amsterdam and Philadelphia, PA for two weeks with Weather Channel mobile app, imported the data through Processing and created a visualization of findings, chose circle to represent passing time in a 24 hour period + each section within the circle to correspond to the weather conditions and time differences between Amsterdam and Philadelphia, printed designs on large glossy paper, used origami paper-folding techniques to construct an umbrella.
Product: Paper umbrella constructed and designed with weather data in two cities.
Skills: Research, concept development, Processing (coding), Adobe Illustrator, visualization, abstraction, paper folding, multimedia design, iterative process
